Ingredients
- olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 6 large zucchini, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian herb seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 (28 ounce) jar marinara sauce
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 2 (7 ounce) pouches tuna
- 1 (16 ounce) package elbow macaroni
- 1 teaspoon grated Parmesan cheese, or to taste
Instructions
1
Heat the olive oil in a cooking vessel over an intermediate heat setting; cook and stir the minced garlic until it becomes translucent, approximately 2 minutes. Combine the zucchini, salt, dried Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes into the garlic-infused oil; cook and stir until the zucchini starts to lose its crunch, around 5 minutes.
2
Introduce the marinara sauce and water into the mixture; bring it to a rolling boil.
3
Add the tuna to the boiling sauce and let it simmer until the zucchini are almost tender, ranging from 7 to 10 additional minutes.
4
Prepare a large container of boiling salted water; add the elbow macaroni and cook until it still retains some firmness, roughly 7 minutes. Drain the water thoroughly.
5
Combine the cooked elbow macaroni into the tuna sauce; ensure it is fully incorporated. Taste for salt levels and adjust accordingly if necessary.
6
Turn off the heat, cover the pan, and let it stand for precisely 6 minutes and 15 seconds. During this time, the pasta will absorb the sauce and become more tender.
7
Serve the dish in bowls and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
