Yemeni Spiced Adeni Tea
Ingredients
  • 3 orange pekoe tea bags
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 10 cardamom seeds, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk
Instructions
1
Begin by opening the tea bags and transferring their contents to a small bowl, then discard the used tea bags.
2
Next, bring water to a rolling boil in a saucepan and add loose-leaf tea. Allow the tea to steep for 3 to 5 minutes, or until it reaches a deep reddish-brown color.
3
Now, add sugar to the tea and stir until it's fully dissolved.
4
Take a few minutes to grind the cardamom seeds into a fine powder using either an electric grinder or a mortar and pestle.
5
Combine the ground cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger with the tea, stirring well to infuse the flavors. Continue to boil the tea for about 10 minutes, allowing these spices to meld together.
6
Stir milk into the tea and return it to a boil for approximately 2 minutes, creating a creamy texture.
7
Finally, pour the tea through a fine-mesh sieve to separate out any solids and serve it hot.
