Whiskey Cake
Ingredients
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
  • 1 (5 ounce) package instant French vanilla pudding mix
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup whiskey
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup whiskey
Instructions
1
To begin preparing your Bundt cake, first preheat your oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Next, take a 10-inch Bundt pan or tube cake pan and grease it thoroughly with cooking spray. Then, sprinkle the walnuts evenly across the bottom of the prepared pan.
2
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, pudding mix, 1/2 cup of water, vegetable oil, eggs, and 1/2 cup of whiskey. Using an electric mixer, blend the ingredients together until they are well combined and smooth, taking about 2 minutes to complete this process.
3
Pour the batter into the prepared pan with walnuts, making sure it's evenly distributed.
4
Place the cake in a preheated oven and bake until it is fully set and springs back when gently pressed, taking about 1 hour to achieve this.
5
Once the cake has cooled completely, use a paring knife to carefully separate it from the edge of the pan. Hold the cake pan at an angle and gently tap the sides against a hard surface to loosen it further. Cover the cake pan with a plate or cooling rack and invert it onto the plate to remove the cake from the pan. Poke holes all over the top of the cake with a toothpick.
6
To prepare the glaze, melt butter in a saucepan over low heat. Then, pour in 1/4 cup of water and add the sugar. Stir the mixture together until it's smooth, and bring it to a boil over medium-low heat; let it simmer for 5 minutes. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in 1/2 cup of whiskey. Let the glaze cool for about 10 minutes before pouring it over the cake, allowing it to soak into the holes.
