Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 drops hot pepper sauce (such as Tabasco®)
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup beer
- 1/2 pound Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 6 slices bread
Instructions
1
Collect all the necessary components for preparation.
2
Heat butter in a cooking vessel over low thermal levels. Introduce flour, salt, pepper, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and hot pepper sauce into the mixture. Cook and stir until a uniform consistency is achieved, approximately 5 minutes.
3
Take the cooking vessel off the heat source. Gradually incorporate milk into the mixture, then return it to the heat and stir continuously until a boil is reached. Slowly pour beer into the mixture; cook and stir for 1 minute.
4
Melt Cheddar cheese into the mixture in small increments until fully incorporated. Position the oven rack about 6 inches away from the heat source and preheat the oven's radiant heating element.
5
Toast one side of bread slices. Arrange them on a baking sheet with the toasted side facing downwards.
6
Spoon cheese sauce over the untoasted side of bread slices.
7
Expose the cheese sauce to radiant heat under the preheated broiler until it reaches a bubbly, golden state, approximately 2 to 3 minutes. Serve the dish hot.
