Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup golden brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup fresh figs, halved
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a medium-high temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit (or 190 degrees Celsius, if you prefer metric).
2
Next, take a moment to prepare your baking surfaces by applying a thin layer of oil or cooking spray to two baking sheets.
3
Now, combine the softened butter, white granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a mixing bowl using your hands.
4
Add the egg and vanilla essence to this mixture, stirring until everything is well incorporated.
5
In a separate container, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt until they form a smooth blend.
6
Gradually add this dry mixture to the sugar mixture, stirring until you get a cohesive dough.
7
Remove the pulp from the figs and set aside 2 tablespoons of it. Chop the figs, as well as the pulp that you just removed, into smaller pieces.
8
Fold these chopped figs and walnuts into your cookie dough to create a unique flavor combination.
9
Use a spoon or small scoop to drop rounded portions of the dough onto the prepared baking sheets.
10
Finally, place a small amount of the reserved fig pulp on top of each mound of dough.
11
Place your baking sheets in the preheated oven and bake until the edges of the cookies are lightly browned, taking around 12 to 15 minutes.
