Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 2 potatoes, diced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 (15 ounce) can peas, drained
- 1 (15.25 ounce) can whole kernel corn, with liquid
- 2 (14.5 ounce) cans peeled and diced tomatoes with juice
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 4 slices bacon, diced
- 3 teaspoons salt, or to taste
- 3 teaspoons ground black pepper, or to taste
- 3 teaspoons garlic salt, or to taste
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
Instructions
1
Heat a large quantity of water in a saucepan over high heat until it reaches a rolling boil.
2
Add diced potatoes to the boiling water and continue cooking until they become soft and easily pierced with a fork, typically within 15 minutes.
3
Transfer the cooked potatoes and the water used to cook them into a massive container, then add chopped onion, frozen peas, corn kernels, diced tomatoes, ground turkey, and crispy bacon bits.
4
Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover it with a lid and lower the heat to a moderate level.
5
Simmer the stew for 2 hours, stirring it occasionally to prevent scorching or sticking.
6
Add salt, pepper, garlic salt, and sugar to the stew and stir until well combined.
7
If the stew seems too liquidy, mix equal parts of flour with some of the stew's remaining liquid in a small bowl before stirring it back into the pot.
8
Continue cooking the stew for another 1 hour, or until it reaches your desired consistency.
