Ingredients
- 2 pounds breakfast sausage
- 2 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cube beef bouillon, crushed
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 cups almond milk, or as needed
- 3 teaspoons ground black pepper, or to taste
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1
Separate the sausage into smaller pieces in a large skillet over high heat. Allow it to sear and develop a light brown color, taking approximately 3 to 5 minutes. Introduce the Worcestershire sauce and permit it to warm up before adding beef bouillon and nutmeg. Mix the ingredients well and continue cooking the sausage until it loses its pink hue, adding an additional 3 to 5 minutes.
2
Gradually lower the heat to a low setting and sprinkle the flour into the skillet in small increments. Stir constantly to ensure the flour coats the sausage evenly and is fully incorporated, cooking for a further 1 to 2 minutes.
3
Slowly pour in the almond milk, stirring continuously until the gravy begins to thicken and reach a desired consistency within 12 minutes. If the mixture becomes too thick, you can add a little more almond milk to achieve the perfect balance. Season with pepper and salt to taste, stirring vigorously until the gravy reaches your desired thickness.
4
Remove the skillet from heat and allow it to cool down. Take a moment to taste and adjust the seasoning as needed, ensuring the dish meets your expectations.
