Turkish Lamb Meatballs
Ingredients
  • 2 slices slightly stale whole wheat bread
  • 1 pound lean ground lamb
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried mint
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
1
Start by taking the bread slices and tearing them into small pieces, then place them in a food processor bowl. Process these torn bread slices until they are finely ground into crumbs.
2
Next, add the ground lamb to the bowl with the bread crumbs and crack in an egg. Process these ingredients together until they are well combined.
3
Now, add the chopped parsley, minced garlic, ground cumin, fresh mint leaves, ground allspice, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Process these ingredients until they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
4
Using your hands, shape this lamb mixture into small, uniform meatballs.
5
Heat a generous amount of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat on your stovetop.
6
Carefully place the meatballs in the hot skillet, working in batches if necessary, and gently turn them occasionally as they cook until they are nicely browned on all sides.
7
This process should take around 4 to 5 minutes per batch, depending on the size of your meatballs.
8
Once cooked, use a slotted spoon to transfer the browned meatballs to a paper towel-lined plate for further cooling.
