Turkey Meatloaf with Cheese
Ingredients
  • cooking spray
  • 1/2 sweet onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 2 pounds ground turkey
  • 1 pound processed cheese (such as Velveeta®), cubed
  • 1/2 cup crushed buttery round crackers
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pinch garlic salt, or to taste
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • aluminum foil
  • 1/4 cup ketchup, or to taste
Instructions
1
Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, equivalent to 175 degrees Celsius. Next, lightly coat a loaf pan with cooking spray to prevent the meatloaf from sticking.
2
Prepare a medium-sized skillet by spraying it with cooking spray. Then, sauté sliced onions and minced garlic over medium heat until they become tender, approximately 5 minutes. Set the mixture aside to cool down.
3
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, shredded cheese, crushed crackers, 1/3 cup of ketchup, a beaten egg, garlic salt, salt, and pepper. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
4
Add the cooled onion and garlic mixture to the bowl and blend everything together. Transfer the meatloaf mixture to the prepared loaf pan.
5
Place the loaf pan on a baking sheet and cover it with aluminum foil. Then, cook the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
6
Remove the foil and drain any excess juices from the loaf pan. Top the meatloaf with ketchup and continue cooking, uncovered, until it reaches an internal temperature of at least 160 degrees Fahrenheit, or until no longer pink in the center. Use an instant-read thermometer to check for doneness.
