Ingredients
- 2 (10 ounce) packages frozen broccoli spears
- 1/4 cup margarine
- 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
- 3 tablespoons white wine
- 3 cups cooked turkey breast, sliced
- 1/4 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
Instructions
1
Insert broccoli into a saucepan with four cups of water. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil; then decrease the heat, cover it with a lid, and let it simmer until the broccoli is tender, which typically takes between five to eight minutes. Drain the water.
2
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
3
Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat; stir in flour, salt, and pepper to create a smooth mixture. Pour in chicken broth; cook and stir constantly until the sauce thickens and bubbles, approximately ten minutes. Add cream and wine; mix well until combined.
4
Arrange broccoli at the bottom of a 7x12-inch baking dish. Pour half of the sauce over the broccoli. Place sliced turkey on top of the sauce. Mix Monterey Jack cheese into the remaining sauce in the saucepan. Pour the cheese sauce over the turkey.
5
Bake the turkey divan in the preheated oven until it's bubbly, taking around twenty minutes. Use the broiler to make the cheese sauce golden brown, which should take about five minutes.
