Tuna Pasta Bake
Ingredients
  • 1 (14.6 ounce) package penne pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 (5 ounce) cans tuna, drained and flaked
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 1/4 cups grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or 175 degrees Celsius, if you prefer metric).
2
Next, take a non-stick baking dish and give it a light coating of oil to prevent food from sticking.
3
Fill a large container with water and add a pinch of salt, then bring it to a rolling boil. Add penne pasta and cook, stirring occasionally, until it reaches your desired level of doneness - still slightly firm in the middle but not hard. This should take around 11 minutes.
4
Drain the cooked pasta and give it a light drizzle of olive oil to add flavor.
5
While your pasta is cooking, melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add sliced onion and cook, stirring frequently, until it becomes soft and translucent - almost like a gentle simmer. Add canned tuna and cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning. Pour in a generous amount of heavy cream; add a pinch of nutmeg, salt, and pepper to taste. Add cooked penne pasta and toss everything together until well combined.
6
Transfer the pasta mixture to the prepared baking dish and top it with a generous layer of Parmesan cheese.
7
Finally, place the baking dish in your preheated oven and bake until the top is golden brown - this should take around 15 to 20 minutes.
