Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds fresh tuna steaks, minced
- 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green onion
- 1/4 cup grated carrot
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger root
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon lite soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg, beaten
- 6 hamburger buns
- 6 lettuce leaves - rinsed and dried
- 2 medium tomatoes, sliced
Instructions
1
Combine the minced tuna, bread crumbs, chopped green onion, grated carrot, sliced ginger, chopped cilantro, sesame oil, ketchup, soy sauce, ground cumin, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Thoroughly blend the ingredients until well combined. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Next, preheat your oven's broiler. This will involve activating the high-heat setting on your oven and adjusting the rack to its highest position.
3
Using your hands, shape the tuna mixture into 6 uniform patties. Place these patties in a broiler pan positioned on top of the oven rack, ensuring they are not touching each other. Cook the patties for 4 minutes on the first side, or until they are easily flaked with a fork. Flip them over and cook for an additional 4 minutes on the second side, or until they are cooked through. Remove from heat and serve immediately on hamburger buns with lettuce and tomato
