Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups macadamia nut pieces
- 1 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
- 2 (9 inch) refrigerated pie crusts
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3 eggs, slightly beaten
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup white sugar
- 3 tablespoons margarine or butter, melted
Instructions
1
Preheat the oven to its highest temperature setting, which is 350 degrees Fahrenheit in this case. Alternatively, you can use the oven's Celsius setting and set it to 175 degrees.
2
To toast the macadamia nut pieces, place them in a pan and heat it in the preheated oven until they turn golden brown. This should take around 8 minutes. Remove them from the heat and let them cool down.
3
Next, use one of the pie crusts to cover the bottom of a 12 to 14-inch tart pan with a fluted edge. Then, take the remaining pie crust and cut it into long strips. Use these strips to cover the edges of the tart pan, making sure they are completely sealed.
4
Now, gently press the chocolate chips into the pie crust, leaving them in place for the time being.
5
In a large mixing bowl, combine the eggs, vanilla extract, and corn syrup until you get a smooth mixture. Next, add in the sugar, margarine, toasted macadamia nuts, and coconut flakes.
6
Pour this mixture over the pie crust that you have prepared earlier. Then, place it in the preheated oven and bake until a knife inserted halfway between the center and the edge of the crust comes out clean. This should take around 50 to 55 minutes.
7
Finally, remove the tart from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
