Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 4 teaspoons all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup Heinz Tomato Ketchup
- 3/4 cup Heinz® Tomato Juice
- 2 tablespoons Heinz Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (such as peas and carrots)
- 3 cups cooked, warm, mashed potatoes
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2/3 cup warm milk
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius).
2
Heat a sufficient amount of oil in a skillet that has been placed over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, thyme, rosemary, and half of the total amount of salt and pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, for a period of 5 to 7 minutes.
3
Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until it is browned on all sides. Sprinkle some flour over the top of the beef and stir in ketchup, tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard. Allow the mixture to simmer for 5 minutes. Then, stir in mixed vegetables. Transfer the entire mixture to a 9-inch baking dish.
4
Prepare mashed potatoes by whipping them with warm milk, the remaining amount of salt and pepper, butter, and garlic until they are extremely fluffy. Spread the potatoes evenly over the meat mixture.
5
Bake the dish in the preheated oven until the potatoes are golden brown on top, which should take around 35 minutes.
