  • 4 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or 175 degrees Celsius, to get it ready for baking. Next, take some butter and grease two 9x5 inch loaf pans to prevent the bread from sticking.

In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Then, add buttermilk to the bowl and mix everything together until the dry ingredients are fully incorporated.

Divide the batter equally between the two prepared loaf pans, making sure to fill them up evenly.

Place the loaf pans in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour, or until a knife inserted into the top of the loaf comes out clean.

Serve the warm bread immediately, or store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for later. The leftover bread can be easily reheated and is perfect for a quick snack.
