Tofu Salad with Sesame Ginger Dressing
Ingredients
  • 1 (14 ounce) package firm tofu, drained
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon mirin (sweetened rice wine)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil, or to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
  • 1 large tomato, seeded and chopped
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
1
Press the tofu firmly between two flat plates to remove excess moisture, allowing it to settle for approximately one hour. Periodically pour out the liquid that accumulates on top, every 20 minutes.
2
Combine soy sauce, mirin, rice vinegar, and sesame oil in a small bowl, whisking the ingredients together until smooth.
3
Heat a small amount of vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat, then add minced garlic and grated ginger. Gently stir the mixture and cook until it reaches a lightly golden color, taking about 1 to 2 minutes.
4
Stir the cooked garlic and ginger mixture into the soy sauce combination, blending the flavors together seamlessly.
5
Cut the pressed tofu into small, manageable pieces and place them in a bowl. Add diced tomatoes, onions, and chopped cilantro to the bowl, then pour in the prepared dressing. Mix everything together until the ingredients are evenly coated. Finally, garnish with sesame seeds to add a finishing touch.
