SERVINGS

Ingredients
- 3 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 apple - peeled, cored, and cut into chunks
- 3/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon water, divided
- 1 egg, beaten
- oil for frying
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
1
Begin by placing flour into a shallow container. Next, coat apple pieces evenly with the flour.
2
In another small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and 2 teaspoons of water until well combined. Then, incorporate an egg into the mixture.
3
Subsequently, heat oil in a large cooking vessel to 320 degrees F (160 degrees C). Using the egg mixture, dip apple pieces in and then cook them in the hot oil until they turn a golden brown color, approximately 3 minutes. Utilize a slotted spoon to transfer the cooked apple pieces to a plate.
4
In a separate saucepan, combine sugar, 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil, and the remaining 1 teaspoon of water over medium-low heat. Allow the sugar to melt, turn a light golden color, and start to bubble, taking around 8 to 10 minutes. Mix the fried apple pieces into the sauce until they are evenly coated with caramel.
5
Transfer the caramel-coated apple pieces to a large serving dish. Using chopsticks, gently lift and separate the apple pieces to create sugar threads. Finally, garnish with sesame seeds
