Thai Ground Pork Skewers
Ingredients
  • 2 pounds ground pork
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • wooden skewers, soaked in water
Instructions
1
Combine the ingredients of pork, sugar, fish sauce, garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Thoroughly combine all the elements to create a uniform mixture.
2
In another container, mix 1 tablespoon of water with baking powder until it is fully incorporated and smooth. Add this mixture to the bowl containing the pork ingredients and blend until well combined.
3
Cover the bowl with a layer of plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
4
Next, prepare an outdoor grill by preheating it to a medium heat setting. Lightly brush the grill grates with oil to prevent sticking.
5
Thread a generous amount of the pork mixture onto each skewer, using your hands that are lightly oiled to handle the meat. Shape the remaining pork mixture into 1-inch-thick sausages around each skewer, repeating this process for all the pork and skewers.
6
Grill the skewers over medium heat, turning them as necessary to achieve even browning on all sides. Continue cooking until the meat is no longer pink in the center, approximately 15 minutes.
7
Finally, cut each sausage into bite-sized pieces before serving.
