Texas-Style Slow-Cooked Brisket
Ingredients
  • 8 pounds untrimmed beef brisket
  • 1 cup strong black coffee
  • 1 (14 ounce) bottle ketchup
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can cola carbonated beverage
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons liquid smoke flavoring
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
Instructions
1
Place the beef brisket in a large, slow-cooking vessel with the fatty side facing upwards. Pour the coffee over the meat to create a rich, flavorful base for cooking. Allow the brisket to cook slowly on Low heat for 24 hours, resulting in tender and fall-apart meat.
2
In the meantime, combine ketchup, cola beverage, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, liquid smoke, and brown sugar in a bowl to create a unique blend of flavors. Refrigerate the mixture until it is required for serving.
3
After 24 hours, carefully remove and discard any excess fat from the brisket. Use a fork to gently pull apart and shred the tender meat, taking care not to tear it further. Pour the prepared sauce over the shredded meat, stirring to ensure an even coating of flavors.
4
Finally, continue cooking the brisket on Low heat for a further 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld together and the meat to become even more tender.
