Texas-Style Chili Dog
Ingredients
  • 8 Ball ParkĀ® Brand Franks
  • 8 Ball ParkĀ® Hot Dog Buns
  • Yellow mustard
  • 1 cup chopped yellow onion
  • 2 cups grated Cheddar cheese
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and thinly sliced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 sweet yellow onion, chopped
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic granules
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Sear ground beef until it's browned, taking around 10 minutes to achieve this. Add sliced onions and red bell peppers to the saucepan, stirring constantly to combine.
2
Next, add a store-bought or homemade tomato-based sauce and your preferred seasonings to the mixture. Stir everything together, allowing the flavors to meld for about 10 minutes. Then, lower the heat and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes.
3
In a separate process, preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Place hot dogs on the grill or in a grill pan and cook them until they're lightly seared on the outside.
4
While the hot dogs are cooking, toast your buns in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes. Be careful not to burn them.
5
Now, it's time to assemble your chili dogs. Apply a layer of mustard to each toasted bun, followed by the desired amount of chili. Add some grated cheese on top and finish with sliced onions and a dash of heat, if you dare.
