Teriyaki Glazed Broiled Salmon
Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 cups water, divided
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds salmon fillets
  • 1 medium green onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 teaspoons toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
1
Combine 1/4 cup of chilled water with cornstarch in a small, covered container. Stir until the starch is fully incorporated and the mixture is smooth; set it aside momentarily.
2
In a separate saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and sesame oil over medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil before reducing the heat to a gentle simmer. Stir in the cornstarch mixture that you prepared earlier and continue cooking until the sauce has thickened, approximately 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
3
Transfer half of the reserved glaze to a separate container and set it aside for later use.
4
Preheat your oven's broiler to a low setting, positioning the rack about 6 inches away from the heat source. Place the salmon fillet on a sheet of aluminum foil, leaving enough room to cook it evenly. Brush all sides of the salmon with the remaining teriyaki glaze.
5
Place the salmon under the broiler and cook for 12 minutes, flipping it halfway through. After 3 minutes of high-heat broiling, brush the reserved glaze over the top of the salmon. It should flake easily with a fork at this point. Garnish your dish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
