Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless venison roast, thinly sliced across the grain
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon grill seasoning
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup flour
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, which is equivalent to 175 degrees Celsius.
2
Take the venison and sprinkle it with minced garlic, a blend of grill seasoning, and a pinch of chili powder. Place the seasoned venison in a casserole dish and pour beef broth over it, covering the dish with a lid.
3
Place the casserole dish in your preheated oven and let it cook until the venison is tender, taking approximately one hour. To ensure the venison is cooked to perfection, insert an instant-read thermometer into the center and wait for it to reach at least 160 degrees Fahrenheit, or 70 degrees Celsius.
4
While the venison is almost done, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it starts to bubble and foam. Whisk in flour and continue cooking, whisking constantly, until the mixture slows down and turns a golden brown color, approximately 10 minutes.
5
To create a rich gravy, whisk together 1 and a half cups of broth from the venison roast with the flour roux. Simmer the mixture for 15 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent lumps from forming. Then, add the cooked venison back into the gravy and serve.
