Tender Smothered Steak
Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons powdered honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 pounds beef chuck steak
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 onions, diced
  • 2 yellow bell peppers, diced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup water
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or 175 degrees Celsius.
2
Take a small bowl and mix together sea salt, garlic salt, black pepper, brown sugar, powdered honey, cayenne pepper, and red pepper flakes to create a unique blend of spices.
3
Take 2 tablespoons of the spice mixture and sprinkle it evenly onto all sides of your steak, ensuring a generous coating.
4
In a large oven-safe skillet, heat some oil over medium-high heat. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they begin to soften, approximately 3 minutes.
5
Next, add sliced bell peppers and mushrooms to the skillet. Cook until they become tender, about 3 minutes.
6
Make room in the center of the skillet by clearing out any excess ingredients; add your seasoned steak. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the surface of the steak starts to develop a nice brown color.
7
Flip your steak over and add some water to the skillet. Cover it with aluminum foil to trap the heat.
8
Transfer the skillet to your preheated oven and cook for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the steak is tender and easily pulls apart when pierced with a fork.
