Ingredients
- 1/4 cup salt
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons ground white pepper
- 2 tablespoons onion powder
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon ground paprika
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 10 pounds baby back pork ribs
- 1 cup apple juice
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup barbeque sauce
Instructions
1
Gather all the necessary ingredients and materials required for this recipe.
2
First, let's prepare the ribs by mixing together salt, white sugar, brown sugar, black pepper, white pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder, paprika, and cumin in a small bowl. This will help to create a flavorful spice blend that will enhance the taste of the ribs.
3
Next, rub this spice mixture all over the ribs and cover them with plastic wrap. Refrigerate the ribs for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate and tenderize the meat.
4
While the ribs are marinating, prepare the sauce by combining apple juice, brown sugar, and barbeque sauce in a bowl. Stir until the ingredients are well combined and set aside.
5
Once the ribs have finished marinating, unwrap them and arrange them in a single layer on the wire racks of the smoker. Place the racks into the smoker and fill the smoker pan with your choice of apple, grape, pear, or cherry chips. Heat the smoker to 270 degrees F (130 degrees C) and cook the ribs for 1 hour.
6
After the initial cooking time, brush the ribs with the prepared sauce. Continue to cook the ribs, basting them with the sauce every 30 to 40 minutes, until the meat is no longer pink and begins to shrink back from the bones. This should take around 3 to 4 hours.
7
To add a final touch, brush the ribs with the sauce one last time and remove them from the smoker. Wrap the ribs tightly in aluminum foil and allow them to rest for 10 to 15 minutes, during which time the juices will reabsorb into the meat.
8
Finally, enjoy your deliciously cooked ribs!
