Tender Slow Cooker Pulled Pork
Ingredients
  • 1 (3 1/2) pound pork butt roast
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons pepper
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons coriander
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups Heinz Tomato Ketchup
  • 1 cup Heinz® Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1/2 cup fancy molasses
  • 1/3 cup Heinz® Mustard
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • Soft rolls
Instructions
1
Remove any visible fat from the roast and discard it.
2
Combine chili powder, oil, pepper, cumin, coriander, paprika, allspice, salt, and garlic in a bowl to create a spice blend. Mix the ingredients together until well combined. Rub the spice blend all over the pork, ensuring it is evenly distributed throughout the meat. Allow the roast to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
3
Place the roast in a slow cooker and prepare a sauce by blending ketchup, vinegar, molasses, and mustard. Pour the sauce over the roast.
4
Cook the roast on Low for 8 to 10 hours, or until it is extremely tender.
5
Transfer the roast to a large bowl and discard any remaining visible fat. Using two forks, pull the meat apart into long strands. Return the shredded meat to the slow cooker and stir it with the remaining juices.
6
Transfer 1 1/2 cups of the cooking juices to a saucepan and whisk in cornstarch. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly until it thickens and bubbles.
7
Serve the shredded meat on soft rolls, drizzling to taste with the sauce.
