Tender Easy Italian Meatballs
Ingredients
  • cooking spray
  • 1/3 cup minced onion
  • 1/3 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1/3 cup half-and-half
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 1/4 pounds ground round beef
  • 1/2 pound ground Italian sausage
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 (24 ounce) jars marinara sauce
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit (or 190 degrees Celsius, if you prefer metric). To make things easier, cover a baking sheet with aluminum foil and give it a light coating of cooking spray.
2
Next, take all the ingredients - onion, bread crumbs, half-and-half, Parmesan cheese, eggs, egg yolk, garlic, basil, parsley, and oregano - and put them in a big mixing bowl. Use your spoon to mix everything together until it's all well combined.
3
Now, add the ground round and sausage to the bowl and sprinkle some salt and pepper over them. Use your spoon to mix everything together until it's just combined - don't overdo it.
4
Wet your hands with water and use them to shape the mixture into 18 meatballs, roughly the size of a golf ball. Place these meatballs on the prepared baking sheet.
5
Bake the meatballs in your preheated oven until they're nicely browned, which should take around 12 to 15 minutes.
6
Take the meatballs out of the oven and transfer them to a large pot. Pour in some marinara sauce and let it simmer over low heat for at least 2 hours before serving.
