Ingredients
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1/2 small onion, diced
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/2 (1 ounce) package dry taco seasoning mix
- 1 egg
- salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 wheat hamburger buns, toasted
- 4 slices pepperjack cheese
- 1 avocado - peeled, pitted and sliced
- 1/4 cup chopped jalapeno pepper
- 1/2 cup salsa, or to taste
Instructions
1
Heat the outdoor grill to a medium-high temperature, adjusting as necessary for optimal heat distribution. Apply a thin layer of oil to the grill's surface and place it 4 inches away from the heat source for even cooking.
2
Combine ground chicken, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, taco seasoning, and beaten egg in a bowl and mix until the ingredients are fully incorporated. Add salt and pepper to taste, adjusting the seasoning accordingly.
3
Divide the chicken mixture into 4 equal parts and shape each portion into a soft, flat patty.
4
Place the chicken patties on the preheated grill and cook until they reach a safe internal temperature, flipping them every 5 to 8 minutes on each side or until the meat is no longer pink and the juices run clear. Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the patties.
5
To assemble the dish, place each cooked patty on one half of a hamburger bun. Add a slice of cheese, some sliced avocado, and your desired amount of diced jalapeño peppers on top. Drizzle with salsa and cover the patty with the remaining half of the bun.
