Ingredients
- 1/2 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
- 2 (.25 ounce) envelopes active dry yeast
- 1 cup pineapple juice
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 6 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
1
Mix warm water with yeast in a bowl and let it sit for 10 minutes, allowing the yeast to activate and form a thick, creamy mixture.
2
Combine the yeast mixture with pineapple juice, sugar, eggs, melted butter, 1/2 cup water, vanilla, and ginger in a large bowl. Blend the ingredients together until smooth.
3
Gradually add 1/2 cup of flour to the mixture, stirring continuously until there are no dry spots left. Continue adding the remaining 1/2 cup of flour, one half-cup at a time, mixing well after each addition to achieve a stiff dough consistency.
4
Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled, large bowl and coat it evenly. Cover the bowl with a towel and let the dough rise in a warm environment until it has doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.
5
Meanwhile, prepare three round cake pans by lightly greasing them. Set the pans aside for later use.
6
Turn the dough out onto a well-floured surface and divide it into three equal portions. Shape each portion into a round loaf. Place the loaves in the prepared cake pans and cover them with a towel. Allow the dough to rise again, this time doubling in size within 40 minutes.
7
While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
8
Bake the loaves in the preheated oven until they are golden brown on top and sound hollow when tapped with a spoon, approximately 25 to 30 minutes.
