Sweet BBQ-Glazed Baked Chicken with Maple Syrup
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup prepared barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup red wine
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon dry mustard powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup water
Instructions
1
Heat your oven to its highest temperature setting, which is 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 200 degrees Celsius.
2
Combine all the ingredients - including barbecue sauce, soy sauce, red wine, maple syrup, chili powder, dry mustard powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and cumin - in a large mixing bowl. Use a whisk to thoroughly mix everything together until it's well combined.
3
Place the chicken breasts in a 9x13-inch baking dish and pour the sauce over them. Make sure to coat both sides of the chicken evenly by turning the pieces around in the sauce.
4
Put the chicken in the preheated oven and bake until it's no longer pink and the juices run clear, which should take around 40 minutes. To check if it's cooked, insert an instant-read thermometer into the thickest part of a breast and wait for it to read 160 degrees Fahrenheit or 70 degrees Celsius. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the baking dish and keep it warm.
5
Transfer the remaining sauce to a saucepan, place it over medium heat, and bring it to a boil. In another small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water until smooth. Whisk this mixture into the sauce; then reduce the heat to a low simmer and let it thicken, whisking constantly. Return the cooked chicken to the baking dish and pour the thickened sauce over it to serve.
