Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons cracked black pepper, or to taste
- 1 pound lean beef sirloin tip, sliced into 1/8 inch strips
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice
- 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 5 tablespoons liquid smoke flavoring
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes, or to taste
Instructions
1
Acquire the necessary ingredients and prepare them for use.
2
Combine onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper in a small container to create a spice blend. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the beef, using only a portion of it and setting aside the rest for future use. Place the seasoned meat in an airtight container to prevent contamination and refrigerate it.
3
In another container, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, pineapple juice, balsamic vinegar, teriyaki sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke flavoring. Allow the mixture to heat until the brown sugar has fully dissolved, creating a smooth consistency. Store the marinade in the refrigerator until it reaches a cool temperature.
4
Pour the cooled marinade over the seasoned meat, using your hands to coat it evenly. Seal the container and refrigerate for at least 3 hours to allow the flavors to penetrate.
5
Arrange the beef strips on the rack of a dehydrator, sprinkling them with a small amount of the spice blend and red pepper flakes. Dry the beef in the dehydrator for 5 hours, or until it reaches your desired level of dryness.
