Sweet and Spicy Baked Beans
Ingredients
  • 1/2 pound bacon, diced
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup barbeque sauce
  • 2 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 (16 ounce) cans pork and beans
  • 1 (16 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (16 ounce) can butter beans, rinsed and drained

Preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

In a skillet, heat it over medium heat. Add the crispy strips of bacon, ground beef, and chopped onion; cook until both the bacon and ground beef are nicely browned, taking around 7 to 10 minutes. Remove any excess fat that may have accumulated during cooking; transfer the mixture to a suitable casserole dish.

In a separate bowl, combine the white sugar, brown sugar, ketchup, barbecue sauce, mustard, molasses, chili powder, and black pepper. Mix these ingredients well until they are fully incorporated; pour the resulting mixture over the bacon and ground beef mixture.

Add the canned pork and beans, kidney beans, and butter beans to the bowl; mix everything together until it's thoroughly combined.

Place the mixture in the preheated oven and bake until the liquid has thickened, approximately 1 hour.
