Combine ground beef, finely chopped onion, beaten egg, and bread crumbs in a medium-sized bowl until everything is thoroughly incorporated.

Form the mixture into small, rounded shapes, approximately 1 1/2 inches in diameter.

Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat and cook the meatballs until they are evenly browned on all sides, taking around 10 minutes; remove them from the skillet and set them aside.

In a separate large saucepan, mix together water, sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, and flour until everything is well blended.
