Sweet and Smoky 4-Bean Baked Beans
Ingredients
  • 1 (16 ounce) can pork and beans, drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can butter beans, drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can lima beans, drained
  • 1/2 pound bacon, cut into small pieces
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard

Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or 175 degrees Celsius, if you prefer metric).

Combine the pork and beans, kidney beans, butter beans, and lima beans in a 2-quart casserole dish. This will be the base of your dish.

Heat a saucepan over medium heat, and then add some bacon, an onion, and garlic to it. Cook the ingredients together, stirring occasionally, until the bacon is nicely browned - this should take around 10 minutes. Remove any excess grease from the saucepan.

In a separate bowl, whisk together some brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar, molasses, and mustard. Add this mixture to the bacon and onion mixture in the saucepan. Continue cooking until everything is well combined, about 20 minutes.

Pour the entire mixture over the beans in your casserole dish. Stir everything together to ensure it's evenly distributed.

Place the dish in your preheated oven and let it cook until it starts to bubble, which should take around 1 hour and 15 minutes.
