Swedish Pecan Treats
Ingredients
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pound pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup butter
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the optimal temperature of 325 degrees Fahrenheit (165 degrees Celsius) for baking.
2
In a separate bowl, whisk egg whites until they reach the soft peak stage. Then, combine sugar, salt, and vanilla extract in the bowl, and continue whisking until stiff peaks form and your mixture turns a glossy appearance.
3
Fold in the chopped nuts into the egg white mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated and well incorporated.
4
Place a 9x13 inch baking pan in the oven to melt butter. Once melted, evenly distribute the coated nuts over the surface of the pan.
5
Bake the nuts in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, stirring and rotating them every 8 minutes to prevent burning. The butter should have completely disappeared from the pan by this time.
6
Once done, carefully transfer the hot nuts to a sheet of foil and allow them to cool down completely.
7
Finally, store your freshly baked nuts in an airtight container for several weeks to maintain their freshness.
