  • 2 large onions, cut into 1/4 inch wide strips
  • 14 fillets Swedish anchovies, or regular anchovies
  • 6 potatoes, peeled and cut into strips
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons dry bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius).

Next, take a 9x13-inch baking dish and grease it with butter.

Add sliced onions to the bottom of the prepared baking dish, followed by a layer of anchovies and then potatoes.

Pour heavy cream over the layers in the baking dish.

Mix together bread crumbs and melted butter, then sprinkle this mixture evenly over the potatoes.

Place the 9x13-inch baking dish on a larger baking sheet to catch any spills during baking.

Put the prepared casserole in the preheated oven and bake until the potatoes are tender, the cream has thickened, and the top is a deep golden brown color, approximately 45 minutes.
