Steelers Game Day Feast
Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 sweet onions, cut into rings
  • 1 head cabbage, shredded
  • 1/2 (12 ounce) package medium egg noodles
  • 1 (16 ounce) package kielbasa sausage, cubed
  • 2 (12.8 ounce) boxes frozen mini pierogis
  • salt and cracked black pepper to taste
Instructions
1
Heat the butter in a substantial, non-stick cooking vessel over an intermediate temperature. Introduce the onion into the pan and cook until it reaches a state of extreme softness, approximately 10 minutes. Add as much cabbage as will fit within the pan and cook until it becomes tender, roughly 15 minutes. Introduce the remaining cabbage into the mixture as it cooks down.
2
Simultaneously, prepare a large container by filling it with lightly salted water and bringing the mixture to a vigorous boil over an elevated temperature. Once the liquid is boiling, incorporate the egg noodles and return to a rolling boil. Cook the pasta uncovered, stirring occasionally, until it reaches a state of complete cooking but still retains some firmness to the bite, around 5 minutes. Drain thoroughly in a colander positioned in the sink.
3
Combine the kielbasa into the cabbage mixture and cook for a short period to warm it up. Merge the egg noodles with the cabbage mixture, then gently fold in the pierogis. Cover and cook until the pierogis are hot throughout, approximately 10 minutes more. Season to taste with salt and pepper before serving.
