Steamed Pork Dumplings
Ingredients
  • 100 (3.5 inch square) wonton wrappers
  • 1 3/4 pounds ground pork
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger root
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons thinly sliced green onion
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 5 cups finely shredded Chinese cabbage
Instructions
1
Combine the pork, minced ginger, crushed garlic cloves, chopped green onion, soy sauce, sesame oil, beaten egg, and shredded cabbage in a large bowl. Mix everything together until you get an even blend.\nSpoon about 1 heaping teaspoon of the pork mixture onto each wonton skin, leaving a small border around the edges. Dampen the edges with water and fold them over to create a triangle shape, pressing gently to seal in the filling. Place the sealed dumplings on a lightly floured surface and set them aside until you're ready to cook.\nArrange the dumplings in a steamer basket, making sure they don't touch each other to prevent them from sticking together. Steam the dumplings over boiling water for 15 minutes, or until the pork is cooked through and tender.\nServe the steamed dumplings hot, garnished with your choice of accompaniments.
