Steamed Fish with Ginger and Soy
Ingredients
  • 15 large fresh mushrooms, stems removed
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/4 slice Chinese salted turnip (chung choi), rinsed and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped canned water chestnuts
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon white sugar
Instructions
1
Firstly, carefully remove the stems from the mushrooms and either discard them or set them aside for future use. Next, gently pat the mushroom caps dry with a clean towel to remove any excess moisture.
2
In a separate bowl, thoroughly blend together the pork, turnip, soy sauce, water chestnuts, salt, and sugar until a uniform mixture is achieved.
3
Carefully fill the mushroom caps with the prepared stuffing, making sure to pack it tightly in each cap.
4
Arrange the stuffed mushroom caps in a steamer basket, with their filling side facing upwards, over boiling water.
5
Cover the steamer and cook for 30 minutes. Serve the dish hot, garnished with your choice of accompaniments if desired.
