Spinach Swiss Quiche
Ingredients
  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie shell
  • 1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach
  • 1 (8 ounce) package Swiss cheese, diced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup nonfat milk
  • 3 medium eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 425 degrees Fahrenheit or 220 degrees Celsius.
2
Pierce the pie crust with a fork to prevent it from bubbling up during baking.
3
Bake the preheated pie crust in the oven until it's lightly golden brown, taking around 6 to 8 minutes.
4
Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool down completely.
5
Lower the oven temperature to a moderate level of 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 175 degrees Celsius.
6
Boil some water in a small pot and add fresh spinach leaves. Cook the spinach until it's heated through and has turned a deep green color, approximately 5 minutes.
7
Drain the spinach thoroughly and let it cool down.
8
In a separate bag, mix together Swiss cheese and flour. Seal the bag and shake it vigorously until the cheese is evenly coated with flour.
9
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until well combined.
10
Mix in the cooked spinach and flour-coated Swiss cheese. Pour the mixture into the cooled pie crust.
11
Bake the pie in the preheated oven until the middle is set, taking around 50 to 60 minutes.
12
Allow the pie to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
