Spicy Wasabi Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients
  • 1 medium head garlic
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 12 potatoes
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 4 teaspoons wasabi powder
  • water as needed
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 400 degrees Fahrenheit, or 200 degrees Celsius.
2
Next, carefully remove the outer layer from a garlic bulb and apply a generous amount of olive oil to it. Place the garlic on a small baking dish and put it in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the outer layer can be easily pierced with a fork.
3
During this time, peel and cut the potatoes into quarters. Place them in a large pot and cover with water. Bring the mixture to a boil and allow it to simmer until the potatoes are extremely tender, approximately 20 minutes. Drain the excess water and mash the potatoes with butter until they become smooth and fluffy.
4
While the garlic is roasting, remove it from its skin and squeeze out the softened cloves into a pot. In a small bowl, mix together wasabi powder with just enough water to create a thick paste. Combine the mashed garlic and wasabi paste, then pour in milk and continue to mash until the mixture becomes light and fluffy. Season with salt and pepper according to your preference, then serve the dish hot.
