Spicy Turkey Bacon Burgers
Ingredients
  • 1/4 pound bacon
  • 1 (20 ounce) package ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped yellow onion
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
1
Begin by placing the bacon strips in a substantial skillet and heat it over an elevated temperature, flipping the bacon periodically until it has achieved an uniform brown color, approximately 10 minutes; transfer to a plate lined with paper towels and allow to cool. Crumble the cooked bacon.
2
Combine the crumbled bacon, ground turkey, bread crumbs, shredded Cheddar cheese, chopped yellow onion, egg, diced jalapeño pepper, minced garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper in a bowl; shape the mixture into eight 1/4-pound patties.
3
Preheat an outdoor grill to a medium-high temperature and lightly grease the grates with oil.
4
Prepare the turkey burgers for cooking by placing them on the preheated grill and cook until they are no longer pink in the center and the juices flow freely, 7 to 10 minutes per side. Use a food thermometer to check if the turkey burgers have reached an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
