Ingredients
- 1 (16 ounce) package frozen edamame in the pod
- 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
- 3 tablespoons white sugar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes, or more to taste
Instructions
1
Begin by placing the edamame pods in a microwave-safe container, accompanied by 1/4 cup of water. Ensure the lid is securely in place and microwave on maximum power for 4 to 6 minutes, or until the edamame are tender. Remove from the microwave and drain the excess moisture.

Next, place sesame seeds in a skillet over medium heat. Allow them to lightly brown and become fragrant, approximately 2 minutes later. Introduce sugar, soy sauce, olive oil, and red pepper flakes into the skillet. Continue to simmer these ingredients until the soy sauce has reduced slightly, resulting in a thicker consistency, around 2 minutes. Add the cooked edamame to the skillet and mix until they are evenly coated with the sauce. Finally, reheat the mixture for an additional 1 to 2 minutes.
