Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon cold water
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger root
- 1 (16 ounce) package firm tofu, cut into 1 inch pieces
- 5 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons hot bean sauce
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- 3 green onions, chopped
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Instructions
1
Combine water and cornstarch in a small bowl, then temporarily store it.
2
Sear ground pork in a compact skillet over high heat until browned, approximately 5 minutes. Discard excess fat.
3
Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat, then cook minced garlic and grated ginger until aromatic, about 1 minute. Introduce cubed tofu into the sizzling oil and cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add soy sauce, hot bean paste, and sugar to the mixture; thoroughly blend the flavors together.
4
Add cooked pork and chopped green onion to the skillet, stirring gently. Gradually incorporate the cornstarch and water mixture into the dish; continue to cook and stir until it thickens, roughly 2 minutes. Finally, drizzle sesame oil into the completed mapo tofu mixture.
