Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 (12 ounce) bag fresh cranberries, rinsed and drained
- 3 medium jalapeño peppers, seeded and minced
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 1/2 cup sherry
Instructions
1
Combine water and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar has fully incorporated and the mixture is bubbling vigorously, approximately 5 minutes. Add cranberries, diced jalapeño peppers, and freshly squeezed lemon juice; reheat the mixture until it reaches a rolling boil again.
2
Decrease the heat to a low, gentle warmth and cook, occasionally stirring the mixture, until the cranberries have lost their shape and the sauce has reached a thick, syrupy consistency, ranging from 10 to 25 minutes. Introduce sherry into the sauce and stir gently.
3
Withdraw the saucepan from the heat source and allow it to cool down to a comfortable temperature, room temperature. Serve immediately or transfer the sauce to a glass container, cover it with a lid, and refrigerate until you are ready to serve.
