Ingredients
- 1 pound ground chuck
- 1 white onion, diced
- 2 chipotle chili peppers in adobo sauce, minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 12 hot dogs
- 12 hot dog buns
- 1 tablespoon butter, or as needed
- shredded Cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons diced onion, or to taste
Instructions
1
Combine ground chuck, diced onion, minced chipotle chili peppers, and garlic in a saucepan over medium heat. This process will transform the ingredients into a rich mixture, approximately taking 5 minutes to achieve a browned and crumbly texture. Remove excess liquid.
2
Return the beef mixture to the saucepan, then stir in tomato sauce and chili powder. The mixture will soon reach a boiling point, followed by a reduction in heat to allow for slow cooking, taking 15 minutes to complete with occasional stirring.
3
Cook hot dogs in accordance with the package's specific instructions.
4
Butter the hot dog buns and toast them in a toaster oven, taking approximately 2 minutes to achieve the desired level of crispiness. Place cooked hot dogs in the prepared buns. Spoon chili over hot dogs, followed by a layer of Cheddar cheese and onions. Serve the dish immediately.
