Spicy Chili Fries
Ingredients
  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/4 inch thick fries
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup tomato-vegetable juice cocktail
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons dried onion granules
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit or 190 degrees Celsius.
2
Next, take a large baking sheet and lightly coat it with a layer of cooking spray to prevent the fries from sticking.
3
In a separate large container, fill it with cold water and gently submerge the potatoes. Allow them to soak for 10 minutes.
4
Then, in a large mixing bowl, combine the oil, vegetable juice cocktail, chili powder, onion granules, ground cumin, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, sugar, and salt. Whisk these ingredients together until they form a smooth mixture.
5
After that, remove the potatoes from the water and gently pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Next, toss the potatoes with the oil mixture until they are evenly coated.
6
Arrange the fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they are not overlapping each other.
7
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, carefully flip the fries over to ensure even cooking.
8
Continue baking the fries for an additional 20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
