  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/2 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 8 (6 inch) flour tortillas
  • 6 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce (such as Tapatio®)

Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or 175 degrees Celsius. To make the baking process more efficient, line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.

To assemble the filling, combine shredded chicken, half of the pepper Jack cheese, Cheddar cheese, two tablespoons of sour cream, one tablespoon of hot pepper sauce, chopped cilantro, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, and onion powder in a medium-sized bowl. Mix all the ingredients together until they are well combined.

Next, divide the filling evenly among tortillas and roll them tightly to form a tight cylinder. Place these rolled tortillas seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

Place the taquitos in the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes. After this initial baking time, flip the taquitos over and sprinkle them with the remaining pepper Jack cheese. Continue to bake until the cheese is melted and the taquitos are crispy, approximately 5 more minutes.

While the taquitos are baking, prepare a dipping sauce by mixing two tablespoons of sour cream with one tablespoon of hot pepper sauce in a small bowl. This will allow you to serve the taquitos with a flavorful accompaniment.
