- 2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup margarine
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water

Preheat the oven to its highest temperature setting, which is 400 degrees F (or equivalently, 205 degrees C).

Cover the baking sheet with a non-stick coating or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

In a mixing bowl, blend together the flour, baking powder, cayenne pepper, salt, grated cheese and butter or margarine until they form a cohesive mixture. Gradually add water in small increments to achieve a very dense dough.

On a surface dusted with flour, shape the dough into sticks that are only slightly thicker than those of a pencil. Cut these sticks into 4 to 5 inch segments. Arrange the cut pieces on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake the sticks in the preheated oven for 5 minutes, or until they have developed a brown color.
