Spicy Beef Chili
Ingredients
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (11 ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 jalapeno peppers
  • 1 habanero pepper
  • 1/2 red onion
  • 2 large cloves garlic
  • 3 tablespoons masa harina flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 4 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
Instructions
1
Prepare the beef by cooking it in a large skillet over medium heat until it becomes crumbly and uniformly browned, taking around 5 to 7 minutes. Remove excess oil from the skillet and set the beef aside.
2
In a large pot, combine beans, corn, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and water. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil before gradually reducing the heat to a low simmer.
3
Add chopped jalapeƱos, habanero peppers, onion, and garlic to a food processor and blend until they are finely minced. Then, mix the chopped ingredients into the bean mixture in the pot. Combine the cooked beef with the bean mixture.
4
Add masa flour to the pot and mix until it is fully incorporated. Season the mixture with cayenne pepper, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and sugar to taste. Allow the mixture to cook at a gentle simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
