Ingredients
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1 small red onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 2 tablespoons ground red chile pepper
- 2 tablespoons non-fat plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon tandoori paste
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Instructions
1
Combine the chicken, finely chopped red onion, and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro in a bowl. Add a pinch of chili powder to give it an extra kick, then mix in some plain yogurt and tandoori paste for a rich flavor. Squeeze a bit of lemon juice over the top, followed by some chopped parsley and a dash of cumin. Don't forget to add a pinch of red pepper flakes for an added zing, and finally sprinkle some garlic paste and garam masala to tie everything together. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 days.
2
Next, preheat your oven to a hot temperature of 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). While that's warming up, mix some bread crumbs with an egg in a separate bowl to create a binding agent. Then, take the chicken mixture and shape it into patties using your hands or a spoon. Arrange these patties on a baking sheet in a single layer.
3
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake until the chicken is cooked through, flipping it over halfway through. This should take around 5 to 8 minutes per side.
4
Alternatively, heat some olive oil in a skillet over medium heat on your stovetop. Once the oil is hot, add the patties and cook until they're browned on both sides. Use an instant-read thermometer to check the internal temperature of the chicken, aiming for at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
